The primary purpose of assessment is to improve student learning. The Mill Valley School District has developed a full assessment system that incorporates classroom assessments, the primary means to inform instruction and learning; local assessments and state-mandated assessments.

An effective assessment system should assist teachers, students, parents and community members in developing a full, rich educational program.

Standardized Testing and Report Results (STAR)

Yearly results of STAR standardized tests by school from the California Department of Education. For the 2013-14 school year only 5th and 8th grade Science tests will be administered to students.

    The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is a multi-state consortium working collaboratively to develop a student assessment system aligned with a common core of academic content standards for English language arts/literacy and mathematics. Field testing will take place in Spring 2014 with full implementation of the assessment in the 2014-15 school year.
