PERSONNEL
- Interview supt. search consultants; Harden resignation
The Board conducted separate interviews with consultants from two firms that specialize in superintendent searches: 1) Jake Abbott of Leadership Associates and 2) Del Alberti of CSBA Executive Search Services.  Each consultant reviewed his experience, firm, timeline and process for conducting a search for a new superintendent effective July 1, 2005.  It was announced that Laurie Harden, Assistant Superintendent for Business Services, had just informed the Board of her decision to leave the District for a position in the Novato Unified School District, effective February 28, 2005.  Ms. Harden said that this was a great opportunity for her.  The Board expressed appreciation to Ms. Harden for her work in the District and leaving it in good financial condition.  It is anticipated that an interim business official will be hired, with the new superintendent participating in the hiring of a new CBO.  Board and audience discussion followed, with the following action taken.
- Motion: Leadership Associates M/S/C Khademi/Swartz (5-0) to appoint Leadership Associates to conduct the superintendent search for $21,500.
CALENDAR Ms. Young presented the calendar recommendation for 2005-06, which has the approval of the certificated unit.  At this time, the start, end and major holiday breaks are being approved, with internal staff development days, Back to School Night and Open House dates yet to be determined.  With the change in the Thanksgiving week, absences will be closely monitored.
- Motion: 05-06 calendar M/S/C Freiberg/Khademi (5-0) to approve the 2005-06 school calendar as presented, with school beginning on Thursday, August 25, 2005, ending on Thursday, June 15, 2006, and with the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as a local holiday.
