Special Meeting No. 11 - April 20, 2005
MINUTES

Trustees Present:  Monib Khademi, Paula Reynolds, Brian Swartz
Trustee Absent: Jeffrey Freiberg, Laura Murphy
Administrators: Barbara B. Young, Superintendent
Whitney Hoyt, Middle School Principal
Chris Lincoln, Director of Technology
CALL TO ORDER The Mill Valley School District Board of Trustees, acting as the Governing Board of the Mill Valley School District, met in special session at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Mill Valley School District Administrative Office, 411 Sycamore Avenue, Mill Valley, CA.  President Reynolds called the meeting to order at 10:05 AM and announced that Mr. Freiberg and Ms. Murphy were absent.
CLOSED SESSION As there were no communications to the Board, the meeting was recessed to Closed Session at 10:06 AM, to consider Public Employee Employment (Gov. Code §54957).
RECONVENE & REPORT OUT Ms. Reynolds reconvened the meeting to Public Session at 10:17 AM and announced that no action was taken in Closed Session.
COMMUNICATIONS There were no communications to the Board.
PERSONNEL
- MS Ass't Principal
Superintendent Young recommended that teacher Anna Lazzarini be appointed as Middle School Assistant Principal for 2005-06.  Ms. Young reviewed Ms. Lazzarini's extensive background as a teacher and educational leader in the District and reported on the competitive process undertaken in making the selection.
- Motion: Lazzarini appointment M/S/C Swartz/Khademi (3-0) to approve the appointment of Anna Lazzarini as Mill Valley Middle School Assistant Principal for 2005-06.
STRATEGIC PLAN
- Tech RFP
Ms. Young and Chris Lincoln, Director of Technology, reported on the next steps to be taken regarding the technology infrastructure proposal approved at the April 6 Board meeting.  In order for work to be completed over the summer break, competitive bids need to be sought as soon as possible.  Ms. Young also announced a meeting of superintendents and trustee representatives from Mill Valley, Reed and Tamalpais High school districts to discuss efforts of the elementary districts in technology and how the high school district may be affected.  The meeting will be held on April 27th in the Community Room at Reed School in Tiburon.  Appreciation expressed to Mr. Lincoln and to the Community Technology Advisory Commission for their work on the tech plan and Request for Proposal (RFP).
- Motion: RFP M/S/C Khademi/Swartz (3-0) to approve Request for Proposal for technology infrastructure plan previously approved.

ADJOURNMENT

Ms. Reynolds announced that the next regular meeting of the Board will be on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 7:00 PM at the Mill Valley School District Administrative Office and adjourned the meeting at 10:40 AM .
