| 1. CALL TO ORDER | The Mill Valley School District Board of Trustees, acting as the Governing Board of the Mill Valley School District, met in special session at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Mill Valley School District Office, 411 Sycamore Avenue, Mill Valley, CA. President Freiberg called the meeting to order at 4:33 PM and announced that this Special Meeting was called in order to award contract for Middle School site improvement project. |
| 2. AGENDA | M/S/C Khademi/Gensburg (5-0) to approve the agenda. |
| 3. COMMUNICATIONS | Mr. Swartz encouraged all Board members to stop by the Kiddo office and participate in the phonathon. He reported that the Challenge Campaign is one-third of its way to goal of $1.2 million. |
| 4. BUILDINGS & SITES A. MS site improvement bids |
Phil Singer and Carol Bassett, of SFE Landscape Architects, and Don Spencer, of RDS Architects, reviewed the bid process and officially opened the bid proposals for the Middle School Site Improvement Project - Phase 1. All five bidders were determined to be qualified. A comparison chart for the base bid and alternates 1 (main entrance area) & 2 (parking area in front of the school) was reviewed and discussed. The apparent low bidder for all three areas of the project was Bauman Landscape, Inc. of Richmond. Also discussed was the replacement of walkways and the handling of change orders, which will be addressed at the June 19 board meeting. Completion date is expected to be August 20, with some portions to be final by October 16. |

| 5. ADJOURNMENT | Mr. Freiberg announced that the next regular Board meeting will be Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 7:00 PM at Mill Valley Middle School and adjourned the meeting at 5:13 PM. |
