Eighth Grade Technology Content Standards
We live in a technological world which is in a constant state of
change. As educators we are committed to teaching our students to
become proficient, responsible and ethical users of technology.
When technology is integrated into the classroom curriculum,
students learn to use technology as a tool to improve
productivity, research information, solve problems and
communicate ideas.
Within each grade level students develop specific technological
skills which include word processing, keyboarding, desktop
management, multimedia presentations and internet use. These
skills are integrated within each grade level curriculum to meet
the 2nd, 5th and 8th grade benchmark standards.
Eighth grade students are expected to:
- Apply strategies for identifying and solving routine hardware
and software problems
- Understand the impact of evolving technologies and their effect
on society
- Exhibit legal and ethical behavior when using information and
technology, and understand the consequences of misuse
- Use content-specific software and simulations to support
learning and research
- Apply technology tools and peripherals to support personal
productivity, group collaboration and learning throughout the
curriculum
- Design, develop, publish, and present projects using technology
to demonstrate and communicate curriculum concepts to audiences
- Collaborate with others and investigate curriculum-related
issues, information and solutions using telecommunications tools
- Select and use appropriate tools, technology resources, and
strategies to accomplish a variety of tasks, problem solve and to
support practical applications to learning
- Evaluate the accuracy, relevance and reliability of electronic
information source
