This metal is found in the earth's crust but this metal will not rust!

Discovery/History
In 1839, Carl Mosander of Sweden discover Lanthanum. Mosander obtained some cerium nitrate and treated it with dilute nitric acid cerium was contaminated with a new element. The word Lanthanum was taken from the Greek word "lantanein" which means "to be hidden."
Sources of Where it is Found

Lanthanum is found with rare earth is monazite and bastnasite. It is found in bastnasite mined in the US and in China. Monazite mined in many various countries.

Uses for Lanthanum

Lanthanum is used for opitical lens especially for cameras, color tv sets, carbonaro lamps which are used in motion pictures, medical lights, cigarette lighters, lighter flints, battery electrodes and Catalyic converters.

Chemical and Biological Properties
Lanthanum is an active metal, it reacts with most acids. It reacts with both hot and cold water however it reacts with hot water much faster than it does with cold water. Lanthanum is one of the most reactive of the earth metals.

.

To find Lanthanum, you have to mine for it.
