Background info:

Polonium was discovered in 1898. It was discovered by Piere and Marie Curie. They discovered it while seeking the cause of radioactivity. It's atomic number is 84 and it is named after Poland

Anchors:
Uses:
  • Mixed or alloyed with beryllium to provide a source of neutrons.
  • Used for eliminating static charges, in textile mills (B-sources are more common and less dangerous.
  • Used on brushes for removing dust from photographic films.
  • Thermoelectric power in space satellites.
  • Source of neutrons

History:

Polonium also called Radium F was the first element discovered by Piere and Marie Curie. They were seeking the cause of radioactivity of pitchblende from Joachimsthal, Bohemia. The electroscope showed it seperating the bisthum.
