Children who qualify for Special Education
services in academic areas receive those services in a variety of ways,
which include, but are not limited to; individual and/or small group
instruction in the Learning Center, and/or push in support in their
regular education classrooms.
The Speech and Language program is part of the
Learning Center and is primarily a direct service model. Identified
children, who have Individualized Education Plans due to significant
difficulties with articulation, voice, fluency or language processing,
are supported by language-based activities in small groups,
individually, or in the classroom to work on identified areas of
weakness. Every attempt is made to identify at-risk children in
kindergarten by screening all students.
Occupational Therapy services are provided to
children who qualify for Special Education Services under one of the 13
Federal Eligibility categories. Occupational Therapy services most
often include direct individual or small group instruction in the
Occupational Therapy classroom and/or consultation with the general
education teacher.
