The basis for the creation of the Site Council is the belief that decision-making at the site level is key to the improvement of education. At Strawberry Point School, we value this leadership team and all that they do to improve our school.

Site Council Function

The Strawberry Point Site Council is a collaborative decision-making group of parents and staff which meets monthly with the goal of providing each child with the best education possible. Composed of two teachers, three parents and the school principal, the primary task of the Site Council is to create and implement an annual School Improvement Plan that sets goals, looks at resources to increase student success and monitors effectiveness of school curriculum and programs. Members of the council serve two years, with parent members elected by the parent community as positions become available.

Meetings

Meetings of the Site Council are held monthly and all meeting dates and times will be posted in the school office or announced in The Point. All parents and staff are welcome to attend Site Council meetings and to serve on subcommittees. Projects of the Site Council may include: developing a vision and/or mission statement, establishing priorities for use of special state funding, parent education presentations on curriculum issues, and the creation/review/revision of various school policies related to curriculum and instruction issues. You can call the office for the meeting schedule if you require more information.
