The
following is from: http://www.millvalley94941.com/mv-song.html
In 1970,
Rita Abrams, a kindergarten teacher at the Mill Valley Strawberry Point
School, wrote a song for her students to sing with her. Through a
series of events, the song, entitled Mill Valley and sung by Rita and
the then-third grade class of Strawberry Point School, was recorded and
became a nationwide hit.
Rita is
also known for other entertainment productions, including children's
and novelty songs, and, along with Stan Sinberg, is the creator of the
hit revue For Whom the Bridge Tolls. The song Mill Valley and several
others were re-released on a CD in 2000, the year that marked Mill
Valley's Centennial as an incorporated town, and the package includes
new liner notes written by Rita. The CD can be purchased on most online
music stores, including Amazon.com.
With the
gracious permission and assistance of Rita Abrams, here are the lyrics
to the hit song Mill Valley, followed by the liner notes. Note:
Although the song was recorded with the third grade class, by the time
the album was released the students had graduated to fourth grade, thus
the title of the album, Miss Abrams and the Strawberry Point 4th Grade
Class.

Strawberry Point School Song
By Rita Abrams
On the edge of Mill Valley,
nestled by the bay
Shining like a sparkling jewel
Is the place where we learn and the place where we play
Strawberry Point School
Strawberry Point,
Strawberry Point, Strawberry Point School
There's a strong kind of
spirit everybody shares
That always will come shining through
And we all work together 'cause everybody cares
At Strawberry Point School
Strawberry Point,
Strawberry Point, Strawberry Point School
In a world that is
changing, changing very fast
One thing always will be true
That wherever we go, happy memories will last
Of Strawberry Point School
Strawberry Point,
Strawberry Point, Strawberry Point School
Strawberry Point, Strawberry Point, Strawberry Point School
Mill Valley
by Rita Abrams
I'm gonna talk about a
place that's got a hold on me... Mill Valley
A little place where life feels very fine and free... Mill Valley
Where people aren't afraid to smile,
And stop and talk with you a while,
And you can be as friendly as you want to be... Mill Valley
Talking 'bout Mill Valley, that's my home
It looks as pretty in the
rain as in the sun... Mill Valley
And there's a mountain that belongs to everyone... Mill Valley
And there are creeks that run on endlessly,
And trees as far as you can see,
It makes you feel as if your life has just begun... Mill Valley
Talking 'bout Mill Valley,
talking 'bout Mill Valley California, that's my home
I know that there may come
a time I'll have to leave... Mill Valley
And every memory will seem like make-believe,
And all the good things that are mine right now
Will call to me and ask me how
I could have left them all behind, how could I leave Mill Valley?
Talking 'bout Mill Valley, talking 'bout Mill Valley California, that's
my home
