A networked version of "Type to Learn" is set up on all computers in the library and classrooms. Students work on any machine in the shool to pull up their typing file. Keyboarding is introduced in the third grade and then practiced regularly in the fourth and fifth grades. The goal is for all fourth and fifth graders to complete the program by the end of January for the first time around. In fourth and fifth grade, students rotate each day during their PE, recess and lunch!! After completion the first time, student records are further individualkized so that each student can go through the program again and set new goals. The more practice the better! When students enter 5th grade, Mrs. Walker notices a big difference in her students' technology skills because they enter 5th grade knowing how to type along with basic computer skills!
