May 16, 2014-The Mill Valley School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Wendy Lee Holmes to the position of Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Ms. Holmes was formerly the Principal at Cornell Elementary School in the Albany Unified School District. Ms. Holmes is known as a skilled leader with cross curricular expertise in balancing academic, arts, enrichment, and intervention programs designed to meet the needs of all students. Ms. Holmes brings a wealth of knowledge regarding implementing the Common Core State Standards, facilitating professional development, and engaging stakeholders.
Ms. Holmes has 16 years of experience in education from teaching to site administration. She received her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and is pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary’s College of California. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Policy and Behavior from the University of Michigan.
Ms. Holmes had this to say of her appointment “I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the outstanding group of professionals in MVSD who are devoted to fostering a learning community that supports all students in reaching their full potential. I look forward to collaborating with staff, parents, students and the community to support the District’s goals and help continue the tradition of providing exceptional teaching and learning in Mill Valley.”
Speaking of Ms. Holmes selection, Superintendent Paul Johnson remarked “Wendy’s past success in bringing teams together will complement the work of our talented and innovative teaching staff. Mill Valley School District is fortunate to hire a curriculum director of Wendy’s caliber.”
Ms. Holmes will be joining the Mill Valley School District as of July 1, 2014.
