The purpose of this page is to help parents learn about how students organize their schoolwork.
Students carry a core folder in their backpack.
This is a small light folder where they keep their current paper assignments. They also have ongoing digital assignments stored in Google Classroom on their i-Pad.
Parents: Once a week, ask your 6th grader to share the work in their folder and in Google Classroom. This conversation will give you a window into what we are doing in class.
Students clean out their finished work from their folders at the end of a unit. We photograph the assignments and place them in a digital portfolio.
Parents: Students will share the contents of their portfolios at a student led conference after the first trimester and at Open House in the spring. You can also look at student work anytime in Google Classroom.
Students keep track of assignment completion on Google Classroom by checking the "Mark as done" option.
Parents: Google Classroom is an assignment dissemination tool. We also complete lots of work that is not turned in digitally. Google Classroom is not a gradebook and does not show what your child has or has not turned in. Scores on graded work will be in core folders. Every 5 weeks, I let the students know their current grades.
