• Remote Learning During School Closure

    Live Office Hours:  Tuesdays (9:00AM - 10:30AM), Thursdays (10:45AM - 12:15PM)

Students have the option to visit me in a Zoom meeting during these “live” office hours for any reason.  They can be used for check-ins, receive clarification on assignments, ask questions about content, or just to say hello.  The links to these Zoom office hours are posted in Google Classroom.

    Posting Assignments:

New assignments are posted each morning at 8:00AM.  There will be four assignments posted each week, Monday through Thursday.  Students will have 2-3 days to complete each assignment depending on the assignment’s length and complexity.

Assignments are a combination of articles, textbook readings, videos, and podcasts and cover different topics in two main areas: the history of the United States (government, US Constitution, and Civil War) and issues around the Covid19 pandemic.  Usually students will be asked to read an article, watch a video, or listen to a podcast and then answer some questions on a worksheet or complete a writing activity.  Oftentimes these worksheets are made on a Google Form.  For the assignments that are more historical based, the websites that we will be using frequently are Khan Academy, the TCI On-line Textbook, and DBQ Online (Document Based Questions).  For assignments that delve into issues around the pandemic, the sources can come from a variety of news outlets.

    Grading and Feedback:

Students are graded on a Credit or No Credit basis.  If they complete the assignment they will receive full credit.  Students who do not do the assignment will not be given credit for it.  I review each assignment and provide feedback via email for students who are not grasping the content.  This determination is made when I see several incorrect answers or writing that does not answer the question or indicates a lack of understanding.  I will attempt to contact students via email when they have several missing assignments.
