WEB, which stands for “Where Everybody Belongs” is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors from our 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th grade success.

Each year, our 6th Grade Orientation is held the Friday before school starts, as Monday-Wednesday leading up to the first day of school are scheduled Teacher Work Days. The tradition will continue this year, and orientation will be held Friday, August 14th

This year, we will be hosting a shorter, simpler orientation in two parts:

Part 1, 8:30am-9:00am: All 6th Graders will watch a “WEB Welcome Video” below. They will watch this video at home.

  • USE THIS LINK TO ACCESS THE WELCOME VIDEO VIA GOOGLE DRIVE

Part 2, 9:30am-12:30pm: WEB Leaders will be on campus stationed at a table that corresponds to their WEB Groups. These tables will be outside, socially distanced, and will be thoroughly sanitized prior to student arrival. WEB Leaders will wear masks and gloves, and will be equipped with disinfectant wipes to ensure the safety of all involved.

After watching the Welcome Video at home, 6th Graders will arrive on campus during a 15 minute time slot based on their last name, and will be directed to the table that matches their WEB group.

There, they will be greeted by their WEB Leader, pick up their folder and schedule, fill out an informational card, and play a short socially-distanced game. After visiting campus, 6th graders will receive a follow up email from their WEB Leaders to further connect with and receive support from them.

**As Orientation Day approaches, more information regarding the Orientation Day Schedule, how to access the Welcome Video and alternatives for those who cannot attend in person will be sent via Parent Square and this website.**

This program is supported by the MVMS PTSA and WEB team fundraising activities throughout the year.
