Summer Facility Projects

This summer, the Maintenance & Operations department completed many projects at our six school sites. Below are lists and photos of the completed projects! We appreciate the hard work that goes into maintaining our facilities. 

 

Tam Valley Elementary School

Tam Valley's facilities were focused on this summer, with major upgrades to the paving and blacktop striping as well as other maintenance work.

  • Paving repairs at main employee parking lot
  • Seal coating & re-striped parking lots & blacktop
  • Removed and replaced exterior louvers
  • Removed and replaced gutters throughout campus
  • Painted main building
  • Siding replaced at modular building
  • Flooring replaced in rooms 1, 2, 5, & 10
  • Heater unit replaced room-4
  • Heater/AC unit replaced room-29 (portable)
  • MPR - Drapery replaced
  • Annual fire sprinkler tests
  • Annual fire alarm tests
  • Annual fire extinguisher re-certification
  • Annual Inspection of the playground equipment
  • High-pressure washed roofing at modular buildings
  • Tree trimming
  • Brush mitigation on hillsides – goats
  • Emergency water in warehouse- delivered to each site before school starts

Edna Maguire Elementary School

Edna Maguire is still a relatively new building and did not require major projects. However, the team provided annual maintenance such as tree trimming and fire alarm/sprinkler tests. 

  • High-pressure washed all concrete areas, steel structure, and building
  • Annual inspection of the playground equipment
  • Re-certification of the playground equipment
  • Annual cleaning of the artificial turf grass
  • Annual fire sprinkler tests
  • Annual fire alarm tests
  • Annual fire extinguisher re-certification
  • Brush mitigations on hillsides – goats
  • Tree trimming
  • Emergency water in warehouse- delivered to each site before school starts

Strawberry Point Elementary School

Strawberry Point received minor repairs this year, with plans for more comprehensive facilities work during summer 2020.

Old Mill Elementary School

Old Mill's Multi-Purpose Room had some upgrades this summer!

  • MPR - Refurbished walls, floors, & stage
  • MPR - New draperies & window coverings
  • High-pressure washed all concrete areas and building
  • Tree trimming
  • Gutter replaced at MPR
  • Annual cleaning of the artificial turf grass
  • Annual Inspection of the playground equipment
  • Annual fire sprinkler tests
  • Annual fire alarm tests
  • Annual fire extinguisher re-certification

Park Elementary School

Park received the most comprehensive work this summer, particularly with the Garden project. The garden is brand new and larger than before. This work was a collaboration between the school's PTA and the district. It features beautiful wooden doors and siding, large garden beds, fruit trees, and an outdoor classroom for garden classes. Additionally, there was work done to the Park blacktop and boiler.

Mill Valley Middle School

MVMS underwent some general maintenance this summer. 

  • Siding replaced throughout campus including the gym
  • Tree trimming
  • Paving repairs
  • Boys’ restroom flooring replaced
  • Flooring replaced in the main hallway
  • 10,000 sq. ft. roof repairs
  • Install higher fence line at basketball area
  • Handrail at west stair replaced
  • Grounds work throughout campus
  • High pressure washed all concrete areas
  • Gutter replaced at portables
  • Annual fire sprinkler tests
  • Annual fire alarm tests
  • Annual fire extinguisher re-certification
  • Emergency water in warehouse- delivered to each site before school starts
