What to do if Your Child is Sick

    • Call the Main Office at 415-389-7660 and follow the prompts for Attendance Voicemail. Please call as soon as you know your child will be out.
    • If your child has a fever, coughing, runny nose or appears to be ill, please keep your child home until he or she is feeling better. As a general rule, children should be fever-free for  24 hours before returning to school.
    • For conditions that are contagious, such as strep throat or pink eye, the child needs to be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school. In all cases, please let the school office know so they can confidentially let the class know. Typically, these illnesses spread quite easily.

    School Nurse

The nurse conducts yearly vision and hearing tests, and works with the principal to ensure that any child with special medical needs is provided with the appropriate care at school.

If the school finds nits (eggs) or actual lice on a child's scalp, the child's parents are called to pick up the child immediately. In addition, an informational flyer will be sent home to all parents in that classroom. Once treated, either at home or in the lice treatment salon, the child is ready to go back to class. For more information on how to treat head lice, please refer to the following documents from the Marin County Office of Education:
