Staff Recognition

Yesterday’s Board meeting provided a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate the exceptional contributions of our staff. This annual tradition is an important occasion to honor the dedication, talent, and commitment that define our district community.  You can view the presentation here.

We proudly acknowledged those employees who were nominated for this year’s Golden Bell Award. These individuals exemplify innovation, excellence, and a deep commitment to student success. We are grateful for the impact they make each day.  This year’s nominees are:

We also paid tribute to those staff members who are retiring this year. Their careers reflect a lasting legacy of service, and their influence will continue to be felt across our district for years to come. Each year, we celebrate our retirees by donating a book to the library at each retiree’s school site. Every book is thoughtfully selected to represent the spirit of the staff member it honors and includes a special bookplate, ensuring their impact continues to inspire students for years to come.

Our community is incredibly fortunate to have so many exceptional individuals shaping the lives of our youth. The care, expertise, and commitment our staff bring each day make a profound and lasting difference.

Finally, I would like to highlight that on May 19, we will celebrate our annual MVSD Day of the Employee. This special day is dedicated to recognizing all staff members for their hard work and commitment, and it serves as a reminder of the vital role each employee plays in supporting our students and community.
It is truly an honor to recognize the remarkable individuals who make our district such a special place.

Mill Valley Skate Park Updates During Interim Campus Construction

Construction of the Mill Valley Middle School interim campus is anticipated to begin June 15. The District is working closely with the City and skate park parents/users to minimize impacts and keep the skate park open as much as possible during construction. Right now, we anticipate the skate park will be closed for 2-3 days while fencing and an alternate entrance are installed.

During construction, temporary fencing and safety buffers will separate the skate park from active work areas. The driveway in front of the current skate park entrance will be used for construction traffic, so the skate park entrance will temporarily move to the east side of the park and a new ADA-accessible ramp will be installed. Advance notice of any temporary closures will be provided, and updates will be posted at the skate park.

Current anticipated schedule:
  • June 29 – Temporary skate park closure to install fencing and ADA-accessible ramp
  • July 1 – Skate park reopens with fencing in place and new entrance
  • July 1 – August 12 – Retaining wall construction
  • August 13 – Temporary skate park closure to remove fencing
  • August 15 – Skate park reopens
  • January 2027 – Temporary entrance closed and skate park entrance moved back to the front of the skate park

All dates are subject to change based on weather, construction progress, final design, and permit approvals.
