Park Modernization Updates
The Summer Modernization Program improves campus safety, accessibility, and infrastructure through a series of facility upgrades and code compliance projects.
Key improvements include replacing all drinking fountains with ADA-compliant high/low units featuring integrated bottle fillers, adding a new outdoor drinking fountain, and completing restroom accessibility upgrades. The project also enhances student spaces by replacing the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) play structure and sandbox, upgrading basketball hoops and backboards, and installing new fencing along the northwest side of the campus.
Building improvements include replacing the HVAC unit serving the portable classroom and installing a new cooling unit for the multipurpose room. Roofing work includes replacing the shingle roof on Building A2, reroofing the covered walkway between Buildings A1 and A2, and replacing the cap flashing on the Building A1 parapet walls.
Fire and life safety improvements include upgrading classroom smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, repairing the fire riser, and completing the campus fire loop with new fire hydrants, a Post Indicator Valve (PIV), and a backflow preventer. Additional path-of-travel and lighting upgrades improve campus accessibility and pedestrian safety.
Overall, these modernization projects provide a safer, more accessible, and more efficient learning environment while extending the service life of key campus facilities.
