On May 29, 2019, the Mill Valley School District hosted a public meeting at Edna Maguire Elementary School regarding solar panels and why the roof's structure cannot hold the load of the panels based on the construction of the school. Mill Valley School District Director of Maintenance and Operations, John Binchi, and Wallace Gordon, the architect of the school, led the discussion.
A group of 5th grade Edna Maguire girls came up with a project to honor their class as they graduate to the middle school. They decided to add their handprints in paint to a wall lining a stairwell, with future classes to follow, creating a rainbow of handprints down the stairs. With the help of Principal Kostelnik, Director of Maintenance & Operations, John Binchi, and parent volunteers, the project is a success!
