Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (Coxsackie virus, Enterovirus)
Definition: A viral disease characterized by sore throat, fever, painful rash in the mouth and or rash on the hands and feet. The rash may persist for one week or longer. Transmission is by direct or indirect contact with nose and throat discharges and feces of infected persons.
Incubation Period: 3-7 days
Exclusion: Exclude student from school until lesions are gone and student is fever free for 24 hours (without the use of fever reducing medication).
