•          Bienvenue!

    Welcome!

    Courses in the French stream:

    French 1 for 7th grade

    French 2 for 8th grade

Are you interested in taking French as a 6th grader?

For the 2025-26 school year there is an interest survey that you may have completed.

If you mentioned Introduction to French as an interest and enough other 5th graders did too, there may be a class offered.

Look for it on your MVMS course request which you will complete soon.

My name is Kathryn Osmer and I am happy to be teaching at MVMS this year.  I have been teaching French to students since 1993!  Yes, my interest in French started as a young person and I began to teach it at a summer program in Leysin, Switzerland when I was in college.  My experiences living in France and teaching a few summers in Switzerland have widened my breadth of cultural knowledge and given me an enduring appreciation for the French speakers in our world!  The courses at MVMS reflect a wide variety of language and cultural learning, including conversations, skits, cooking, reading articles and novelas and singing!  We share the joy of celebrating holidays.  And we learn that 40% of English actually comes from French.  This makes reading easier for English speakers, but we do work a lot on the different pronunciation of "la belle langue" the beautiful language.  Join us on an epic journey into worlds that you may not have experienced yet...

    Merci pour votre intérêt!

  • Les desserts français!

French students in the second year class made crêpes or bûches de Noël to ring in the new year.  The choice was theirs and they could work with a friend or solo.  The four bûches or yule logs in English, were judged and eaten by classmates.  The favorite flavor combination this year was chocolate cake with a peanut butter cream.  Miam!
