    Office Hours

    • Live office hours via Zoom: 10:45-12:15 on Monday, 1:00-2:30 on Thursday. I will post the meeting ID and password every Monday and Thursday morning in Google Classroom.
    • Most days we start with a brief meeting, and some days we'll follow with a math activity, often working in groups on the current assignment. Students are expected to show up for these meetings. If they can't, they will still be able to complete assignments on their own. However, meeting briefly as a group has huge advantages.
    • Beyond the class meeting, all students are welcome to drop by to ask questions and get help with assignments. I will often schedule individual or group times during office hours.
    • Because we don’t have the advantage of daily work between students and checking in during classes, coming to office hours and meeting with me is an especially important skill to practice. A regular five minute check-in can make a big difference.
    • One on one Zoom office hours can also be scheduled for other times. Email me to set those up.

    Postings in Google Classroom

    • I post notices daily in the Classwork section. Assignments are posted Monday through Thursday. Each assignment has all related documents, videos, and links necessary for that lesson. There is also a post and answer key for Thursday’s work on Friday.

Grading, Due Dates, and Turn-in Procedures

    • Each daily assignment is worth five points. Corrections are required to be complete. Incomplete assignments receive zero points until they are resubmitted.
    • Assigned work should be completed by the end of the day. On the following day, assignments are corrected and then turned in. Corrected assignments should be submitted by 5:00 on the day they are corrected. While there is no assignment on Friday, on Fridays students check and submit Thursday’s work.
    • Whenever possible, points and comments are recorded in Google Classroom. If you don’t understand a score or reason for an incomplete, check Classroom in the private comments section. Final “official” points, however, are recorded in Aeries.
    • Anyone receiving a zero is welcome and encouraged to complete the work for points. If they do this within a week, those assignments should be resubmitted to Classroom. If it is beyond a week, they should be attached to an email and sent to me directly.

    Assessing Work

    • I get an excellent sense of where a student stands when I review assignments. We will also have an occasional Checkups (previously known as Quick Checks). This is in the form of an online multiple choice and short answer assessment created with Google Forms.
    • The Checkup does not count like a test or quiz, though it looks like one. Instead, it will be graded like any other assignment.
    • That said, when taken it should be treated like a quiz or test. Students should do it by themselves, in one sitting and without referring to notes or other work unless specifically told to do so. This helps make it a better read on a student’s current comprehension and mastery of skills.

    • Balance Between Tech 2 Lab and Tech 2 Engineering
    • We have been meeting in one week time frames for each section. The schedule moving forward through May will be the following.

                      •  T2S: May 4-8, May 18-22,

                      •  T2W: April 27-May 1, May 11-15, May 26-29 (no school Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day)

    • The schedule for June remains to be determined.

    Grading

    • Projects continue to be given, and points are assigned depending on the amount of complexity and time required. Once scored, points will be assigned in Classroom, though a summary of points will be found in Aeries.
