Middle School Principal
The Mill Valley School District is excited to announce the selection of our new Mill Valley Middle School Principal for the 2022-2023 school year. Danny Chui has been approved for the position and will be joining our team in July.
The posting for the position was placed in publications across California and the nation, and a record number of applications were received, from both in and outside of California. The district conducted a rigorous interview and selection process over the course of two months, which included stakeholder input, panel interviews with multiple groups, and in-depth follow-up and analysis of panels’ impressions and opinions. During this process, Mr. Chui rose to the top and the decision to appoint was a strong favorite among staff, students, and administration.
Mr. Chui grew up in San Francisco and eastern Daly City, as an English Language Learner, and attended the University of California Berkeley for his undergraduate studies. He began his career in the educational field with a local non-profit, teaching underprivileged youth in San Francisco’s Western Addition. He went on to secure a teaching position at his alma mater, where he taught A.P. History for some years, before being promoted to Dean of Students, and then to Assistant Principal. For the past four years, he has served as the Assistant Principal at Hillview Middle School in Menlo Park, where he has helped guide staff and students through the pandemic, while also bringing a spotlight to the Social Emotional Learning needs of their school community. He is proud to bring his equity-minded leadership to Mill Valley as a newly minted Panther.
“We are thrilled to have Mr. Danny Chui join the Mill Valley School District and we know he will be a great fit with our MVMS team. His broad perspective and experience will be a welcome addition to the district, and we look forward to introducing him to the community,” Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Berman said.
